The C3 Philippines team conducted training for a team of sixteen ecotour guides in Brgy. Concepcion, Busuanga during February 2012.
The Brgy. council, captain, local residents and guests attended the last day of the training where trainees presented their Eco Tour Guide Code, Work Plan, and promotional leaflet. The Brgy. Captain together with the council officially accepted these plans and leaflet.
The Brgy. council also strongly supported the activities in the workplan of the trainees. As a result, a member of the Brgy. council informed everyone that they have decided to have an Oplan Linis (Clean and green campaign) at the Concepcion falls.
The participants learned a lot from the training, some of their feedback included:
• ‘I learned a lot about the marine and coastal species and the need to know more about these as it will be useful for a tour guide’
•’ We realized they need learn/study more about their culture and traditions’
• ‘Traditional dances and re enactment of their local history can be a tourist attraction’
•’ I realized the importance of environment conservation and protection and are willing to help in the conservation of the natural resources in our locality’
• ‘I understand the importance of learning the basic techniques of an eco tour guide; especially practising communication in English’
• ‘I understand the need to create a cooperative in Busuanga to secure the tour guides and eco tourism in Busuanga.’
